New Year: a simple DeFi reset under $1k
A small reset to start the year right
New Year is a good moment to clean up and start fresh. I am keeping this simple and low-risk: a quick reset I can do with a lean wallet under $1k.
My hope is that this makes the year feel calmer. Fewer loose ends, fewer surprises, and more confidence when I do take the next step.
The short reset checklist
- Tighten approvals. If I do not plan to use a contract again soon, I remove its access.
- Trim old positions. If I cannot explain why a position is open, I close it.
- Set a gas cap. I decide the max fee I will tolerate before I click anything.
- Review backups. I confirm I can still recover my wallet if my device dies.
That is it. The reset is about peace of mind, not extra yield.
Risk analysis
- Technical risk: Approvals can sit for months. That is a long time for something to go wrong.
- Economic risk: Small positions are fee-sensitive. A single expensive transaction can wipe out a month of progress.
- Operational risk: The reset is easy to skip when life is busy. Skipping it is how small problems pile up.
Practical takeaways
- Keep the reset short so it actually happens.
- If you are running under $1k, protect the downside first.
- I want this year to feel steady. The checklist helps me stay that way.
